Offering Counters

Can you spare a half hour after church services? Can you count? If you said yes to both of these questions we need you! We are in need of Counters after each service. We would like to set up a couple of "teams" of people and do a rotating schedule. If there are 3 people to a team it will take less than 15 minutes to count the offering from the service. Any help would be appreciated!

If you are interested, please add your name and phone number to the blue "I'll Be A Counter" Sheet located in the Narthex.

If you have any questions, please call Brian Luedke at 815-3078423.

The 2011 Flower Calendar is now posted in the Narthex. Please sign up for your weekend selection as soon as you can. The cost to place 2 vases on the altar is only $25.00. Remember, placing flowers on the altar is a wonderful way to recognize someone for their birthday, an anniversary, or just about anything.

The cost is only $25 for 2 vases. All you have to do is complete the a pink Altar Flower Card, place that & a check for $25 into an Altar Flower Envelope and drop it in the Offering plate. It’s that easy. If you have any questions, please contact Maria Bremer or Dianne Allen.

Altar Guild

There is a fascinating history to this work and a meaningful ritual. Our duties are simple and rewarding. We prepare the altar for communion using the silks, linens and vessels that have been donated to the church over the years. After the service, we wash and put away the communion ware. Dedicated members also serve by washing and ironing the linens and polishing the silver. In addition to preparing for the Church services, we assist for weddings, funerals and additional services during Lent and special feast days.

Greeters

Greeters play a vital role in welcoming every person who comes into the Church Narthex. As a Greeter, you help our guest form their first impression of Zion even before the first song begins.

If you’re outgoing and love interacting with lots of people, greeting is for you! For information on how you can become a greeter contact the Church office at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or call 815-385-0859.

Readers

Do you enjoy reading? Is it easy for you to speak in front of people? Have people told you you have a pleasing voice? Then volunteering to be a reader is for you.

Snow Removal

Zion needs able-bodied Men, Women, Boys or Girls for Snow Shoveling. Anybody interested should contact Jeff Foerster via phone, e-mail, carrier pigeon, telegraph, txt msg, IM or just place a note in his mailbox. This would start on November 21st, 2011 and run through April 9th, 2012. You would be responsible for one week at a time, Monday through Sunday. So hurry up and get your name in before all the good weeks are taken.

Usher

Volunteer ushers are an important component of every service. The ushers hand out bulletins as people arrive, collect the offering and usher people forward to the Sacrament. Ushers are scheduled on a rotating basis at their preferred service time.
